Spicy Buffalo Tofu Wings in the Air Fryer


Overview:

Spicy buffalo tofu wings are a bold and flavorful vegan alternative to classic buffalo wings. Coated in a tangy, spicy buffalo sauce and crisped to perfection in the air fryer, these tofu bites are perfect for game day, parties, or as a protein-packed snack. Serve with celery sticks and a creamy dipping sauce for the full experience!



Ingredients:

  • 1 block firm tofu, pressed and cubed

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • ½ cup hot sauce (like Frank’s RedHot)

  • 2 tablespoons melted vegan butter or margarine

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • ½ teaspoon black pepper



Kitchen Tools Needed:

  • Air fryer

  • Tofu press (or a clean kitchen towel and heavy object)

  • Mixing bowl

  • Silicone brush (optional)

  • Spatula or tongs



Preparation Steps:

  1. Prepare the Tofu:

    • Press the tofu to remove excess moisture. Use a tofu press or wrap the tofu in a clean towel and place it under a heavy object for 15 minutes.

    • Cut the pressed tofu into bite-sized cubes or strips, depending on your preference.

Air Frying Steps:

  1. Preheat the Air Fryer:

    • Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3-5 minutes.

  2. Arrange the Tofu:

    • Spray the air fryer basket with cooking oil to prevent sticking.

    • Place the tofu pieces in a single layer, leaving space between them to allow airflow.

  3. Cook:

    • Air fry the tofu for 12-15 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to ensure even crisping.

    • During the last 2 minutes of cooking, brush or drizzle additional buffalo sauce over the tofu for extra flavor.
