Air Fryer Sesame Crusted Tuna Steaks


Delicate Air Fryer Sesame Crusted tuna steaks coated with a crunchy sesame seed crust and air-fried to perfection. This recipe delivers a beautiful balance of texture and flavor with a hint of Asian-inspired seasoning.



Ingredients:


For the Tuna:

  • 4 tuna steaks (about 6 oz each)

  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (low sodium preferred)

  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil

  • 1 teaspoon honey (or maple syrup for a vegan option)

  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger

  • 1 clove garlic, minced

  • ½ cup sesame seeds (white, black, or a mix)

  • Cooking spray


For Garnish:

  • Green onions, chopped

  • Lime wedges



Instructions:


1. Prepare the Tuna:

  • Rinse the tuna steaks and pat them dry thoroughly with paper towels.

  • In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, sesame oil, honey, ginger, and garlic to create a marinade.


2. Marinate the Tuna:

  • Brush the marinade generously over both sides of the tuna steaks. Let the steaks marinate for 10-15 minutes in the refrigerator to enhance the flavors.


3. Coat with Sesame Seeds:

  • Spread the sesame seeds onto a plate.

  • Press each side of the marinated tuna steaks into the sesame seeds, ensuring an even coating.


4. Preheat the Air Fryer:

  • Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3-5 minutes.


5. Cook the Tuna Steaks:

  • Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray to prevent sticking.

  • Place the sesame-crusted tuna steaks in a single layer in the basket. Cook in batches if necessary.

  • Air fry at 400°F (200°C) for 6-8 minutes, flipping halfway through, for medium-rare doneness. Adjust the cooking time if you prefer it more or less done.


6. Serve:

  • Transfer the cooked tuna steaks to a serving plate. Garnish with green onions and serve immediately with lime wedges on the side.

  • Preferred Doneness: For a perfectly tender tuna, aim for medium-rare. Adjust the time to suit your preference.
