Ingredients:

For the Snapper:

  • 4 snapper fillets (about 6 oz each)

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 1 teaspoon chili powder

  • ½ teaspoon cumin

  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika

  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

  • Zest of 1 lime

  • Juice of 1 lime

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

For the Tacos:

  • 8 small corn or flour tortillas

  • 1 cup shredded red cabbage

  • ½ cup shredded carrots

  • ½ cup chopped cilantro

  • 1 avocado, sliced

  • Lime wedges, for serving

For the Sauce:

  • ½ cup sour cream or Greek yogurt

  • 1 tablespoon lime juice

  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce (optional)

  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Snapper:

  • Rinse the snapper fillets and pat them dry thoroughly with paper towels.

  • In a small bowl, mix olive oil, chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, garlic powder, lime zest, lime juice, salt, and black pepper to create a marinade.

  • Brush the marinade evenly over both sides of the fillets and let them rest for 10-15 minutes.

2. Preheat the Air Fryer:

  • Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3-5 minutes.

3. Cook the Snapper:

  • Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray to prevent sticking.

  • Place the snapper fillets in a single layer in the basket. Cook in batches if necessary.

  • Air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the fish is flaky and cooked through.

4. Prepare the Toppings:

  • In a medium bowl, toss shredded cabbage, carrots, and cilantro with a squeeze of lime juice.

  • In a separate bowl, mix sour cream, lime juice, hot sauce (if using), garlic powder, salt, and pepper to make the sauce.

5. Assemble the Tacos:

  • Warm the tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave.

  • Break the snapper into large chunks and place them on the tortillas.

  • Top with the cabbage slaw, avocado slices, and a drizzle of the sauce.

6. Serve:

  • Garnish with additional cilantro and serve immediately with lime wedges on the side.

Pro Tips for Success:

  • Fresh Lime: Use freshly squeezed lime juice for the best flavor in the marinade and sauce.

  • Spice Level: Adjust the amount of chili powder or add a pinch of cayenne for extra heat.

  • Alternative Fish: This recipe works beautifully with cod, tilapia, or mahi-mahi as substitutes.
