Air Fryer Blackened Cajun Trout


Packed with bold, smoky flavors, this Air Fryer Blackened Cajun Trout is a deliciously spicy dish that’s quick and easy to prepare in the air fryer. Perfectly seasoned and tender, it’s a must-try for seafood lovers.



Ingredients:


For the Trout:

  • 4 trout fillets (about 6 oz each)

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme

  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust for spice level)

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • ½ teaspoon black pepper


For Garnish:

  • Lemon wedges

  • Fresh parsley



Instructions:


1. Prepare the Trout:

  • Rinse the trout fillets and pat them dry thoroughly with paper towels.

  • Brush both sides of the fillets with olive oil.


2. Make the Cajun Spice Blend:

  • In a small bowl, mix smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper.


3. Season the Trout:

  • Rub the spice blend generously onto both sides of the trout fillets, pressing gently to ensure the seasoning adheres.


4. Preheat the Air Fryer:

  • Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3-5 minutes.


5. Cook the Trout:

  • Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray to prevent sticking.

  • Place the trout fillets skin-side down in a single layer in the basket. Cook in batches if necessary.

  • Air fry at 400°F (200°C) for 7-9 minutes, until the fish is flaky and slightly charred on the edges.


6. Serve:

  • Transfer the blackened trout to a serving plate. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately with lemon wedges.

  • Adjust the Heat: Modify the cayenne pepper based on your spice preference. Add more for extra kick or leave it out for a milder flavor.
