Air Fryer Roasted Garlic

Roasted garlic is a versatile ingredient that adds a rich, mellow flavor to countless dishes. With an air fryer, you can have perfectly caramelized, soft, and spreadable roasted garlic in a fraction of the time it takes in the oven. It’s perfect for spreading on bread, mixing into mashed potatoes, or adding depth to your favorite sauces and soups. Here’s how to make roasted garlic in the air fryer—simple, quick, and bursting with flavor.

Ingredients:

  • 2 whole garlic bulbs

  • 1-2 teaspoons olive oil

  • A pinch of salt

  • Aluminum foil

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Garlic:

    • Cut about 1/4 inch off the top of each garlic bulb to expose the cloves inside.

    • Remove any loose outer layers of the garlic skin, keeping the bulbs intact.

  2. Season the Garlic:

    • Place each garlic bulb on a piece of aluminum foil.

    • Drizzle the exposed garlic cloves with olive oil, ensuring they are well coated. Sprinkle with a pinch of salt.

    • Wrap each garlic bulb tightly in the aluminum foil to create a sealed packet.

  3. Air Fry the Garlic:

    • Preheat your air fryer to 370°F (190°C) for 3-5 minutes.

    • Place the foil-wrapped garlic bulbs in the air fryer basket.

    • Air fry at 370°F for 20-25 minutes, or until the garlic is soft and golden brown. Cooking time may vary slightly depending on the size of the garlic bulbs.

  4. Cool and Use:

    • Carefully remove the garlic from the air fryer and let it cool for a few minutes before handling.

    • Once cool enough to handle, squeeze the roasted garlic out of each clove. The garlic should be soft and spreadable.

Tips for Success:

  • Check Doneness: The garlic is ready when it’s soft, golden, and aromatic. If it needs more time, return it to the air fryer for an additional 3-5 minutes.

  • Storage: Roasted garlic can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week. You can also freeze it for longer storage.

Variations:

  • Herbed Garlic: Add a sprinkle of dried thyme, rosemary, or Italian seasoning to the garlic before roasting for an herbaceous twist.

  • Butter Roasted Garlic: Instead of olive oil, use melted butter for a richer flavor.

Roasted garlic adds a depth of flavor to almost any dish, from pasta to soups, and even salad dressings. It’s simple to make, and once you try it, you’ll want to add it to everything! Enjoy spreading it on toasted bread for an easy and tasty appetizer or mix it into your favorite dishes for an extra boost of flavor.
