Air Fryer Johnsonville Brats

Servings: 4

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time: 12-15 minutes

Total Time: 20 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 4 Johnsonville bratwurst sausages (fresh or frozen)

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (optional, for brushing)

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional, for extra flavor)

  • 1/2 cup water or beer (for steaming)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Air Fryer:

    • Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 3 minutes.

  2. Prepare the Brats:

    • If your brats are frozen, no need to thaw—they can go straight into the air fryer.

    • Optionally, brush the brats with olive oil and sprinkle garlic powder for added flavor.

  3. Cook the Brats:

    • Place the bratwurst in the air fryer basket in a single layer. If your air fryer is smaller, cook them in batches.

    • Add 1/2 cup of water or beer to the bottom of the basket (this will help create steam and keep the brats juicy).

    • Air fry for 12-15 minutes, flipping the brats halfway through the cooking time. Check for an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C) to ensure they’re fully cooked.

  4. Serve and Enjoy:

    • Once cooked through, remove the brats from the air fryer.

    • Serve immediately on buns with your favorite toppings, or enjoy them as-is with mustard, sauerkraut, or grilled onions.

Pro Tips:

  • Add Flavor: Try cooking the brats with a splash of beer or your favorite seasoning mix to infuse extra flavor while they cook.

  • Perfecting the Sear: If you like your brats with a crispy, golden exterior, increase the temperature to 400°F for the last 2 minutes of cooking. This helps crisp them up nicely.

  • Skip the Bun: Serve the brats on a bed of grilled veggies, a salad, or with some crispy roasted potatoes for a lower-carb option.

  • Check for Doneness: Use a meat thermometer to ensure the brats reach an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C). This ensures they are cooked through but still juicy.

  • Leftovers: Store any leftover brats in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the air fryer for 3-4 minutes at 350°F for a quick snack.

Serving Suggestion:

  • Toppings: Try topping your brats with caramelized onions, sauerkraut, or even jalapeños for a spicy kick.

  • Sides: Pair with air fryer fries, roasted veggies, or a fresh coleslaw for the perfect meal.

These Air Fryer Johnsonville Brats come out juicy, flavorful, and perfectly crispy on the outside with minimal effort! They make a great meal for busy nights, BBQs, or game day.
